SCHEDULING AND SENDING AN A/B SPLIT TEST

1. Create a new campaign.

2. Fill in all the details for the campaign, HTML source and text only version, as usual. (You will be prompted to create the second half of the split after creating the initial campaign.)

3. Go to the "Schedule Send" tab and select the list from which you wish to conduct an a/b test.

4. Save the campaign (the system requires you to save changes before creating an a/b test).

5. Click "Create an A/B Test". It is not necessary to choose a start time or to limit the group size, etc, as you will be given opportunity to specify those variables after creating the A & B templates. (You will be prompted to save your changes and to confirm your intention to conduct an A/B test.)

6. In the upper left, below the "Campaign Editor" title, the drop down menu will now list your campaign as "campaigntitle[A] and campaigntitile[B]

7. Edit your [A] and [B] campaigns as normal, filling out the details, giving each [A] and [B] unique subject headings, and replacing the HTML code for [B], if necessary.

8. The system automatically selects 10% of the list for each of the [A] and [B] tests, but under the "Schedule Send" tab you may change the test group size, set the time for send (if you don't wish to do it immediately) and set group intervals, if necessary.

9. Here are where your options sound a bit complicated:

9A. You can now go ahead and send out your A/B test by going to the "A/B Test" tab and selecting "Send All Tests". Monitor the progress of your test by returning to the "A/B Test" tab. When you've decided on a the "winner" between the two, you can use the "Set As Final" button to set Version A or B as the final message.

9B. If you'd like to schedule the A and B to go out separately, go to the "Schedule Send Tab". Once you've scheduled this to go out you are ready to send.

SENDING THE FINAL VERSION

After letting your test run for the desired length of time, you can send the "winner" of the A/B versions to the remaining 80% (or whatever % remains) of the list.

1. Under the "A/B Test" tab, choose your winning test to "Set As Final" and press "OK" when prompted.

2. Go to the "Schedule Send" tab. From the dropdown menu, select campaigntitle[final]. This will automatically select the template and the remainder of the list. Schedule and send this campaign as normal.
