adFlight

Overview

adFlight is an ad management platform designed to work with Sailthru's suite of products.

adFlight supports the way ads are traditionally handled in newsletters: selling ads against a list and a particular day's scheduled send. Additionally, advertisers and publishers can leverage horizon's behavioral intelligence and campaign/user meta data to target users in a variety of scenarios based on their interests and habits.

Setup

You'll need to set up an ad plan and a schedule for each newsletter you send out. This only takes a few minutes, and once complete the only management necessary is the upload of new ad images.

Create Ad Plans

  • In the adFlight tab, select the Manage Plans link and then Create New Ad Plan. In the example below, you see I've created an ad plan for a newsletter that goes out twice a week, on Mondays and Thursdays. Select the list to which you will be sending the email associated with this ad plan. If you have a newsletter that goes out an irregular intervals you may leave the days of the week unselected to create an irregular schedule plan.

  • Once you've saved your ad plan, create the zones that your ads will be placed into by selecting the "+" button. Here I've created two ad zones, banner and ad 1 corresponding to the ad space coded into the template I've chosen. In creating each advertising zone, you'll want to be specific about the image size for each zone.

Place Invocation Codes
  • Select the "View HTML" icon for a zone and copy the invocation code. Now within the editor, choose the View HTML tab of the appropriate newsletter. Paste the invocation code for each zone over link anchor (<a href="example"></a>) that defines that zone.

  • You can now see the zone you've set up by looking at the template preview. In the advanced tab of your editor, be sure to select the appropriate ad plan for that template and save your changes.

Create Plan Schedule

  • Now that you've got an ad plan associated with a newsletter, it's time to schedule the ads within it. From the adFlight home page, select adFlight Scheduler. The complete schedule for your plan will be displayed.
  • You can upload ad images by checking the box for the proper zone and selecting the "+" icon. Just fill in the the appropriate information for the image and save. You can update multiple zones simultaneouly or copy across to other zones after you've uploaded.

  • Import ads from custom html such as a doubleclick DART tag. Sailthru makes this easy by extracting the image and url from web banners.
  • To upload web-based ads from our partner LiveIntent simply paste in the custom html or the LiveIntent section ID and our system will recognize them. Be sure that the ad dimensions match the zone dimensions. Note: At this time it is not possible to integrate reporting with web based ad exchangers; ads imported from tags will report in Sailthru.
