Sailthru's Query Builder allows you to pinpoint how users read your campaign emails and view your website, whether that's through a mobile device or a specific web browser. This information can prove extremely valuable when it comes to refining your emails and ensuring that every website visitor views your website at its best.
Note: To use the Browses Site Using criteria, you must use Horizon. However, the Reads Email Using criteria is available for all accounts regardless of whether a Horizon account is active.
Log in to Sailthru.
Click on the Query Builder tab.
Select the Snapshot Report option button or select the Generate List option button in the Action area. We'll create a Snapshot Report for this example.
Choose a source for your query from the Source List dropdown list. For our example, we'll use the default All Users option to include every possible user in our query pool, as shown in
Figure A.
Important: The All Users option includes every user you've ever uploaded into Sailthru, including those in deleted lists.
Figure A: It's a good idea to use the largest pool of users for your query.
Select Reads Email Using from the Criteria column's dropdown list.
Enter the name of the device or web browser, based on the choices listed below, in the Value column. For example, if you enter BlackBerry in the Value column, Sailthru will filter users based on those who read your emails on a BlackBerry, as shown in Figure B.

Remember that you can search for users of multiple devices and/or web browsers. There are two ways to accomplish more complex criteria. You can add more rows to the Query Builder and then select an option from the Match (All or Any) Of The Following dropdown list. The All option will force the query to include only users who match all of the criteria you set up. The Any option will force the query to include users who match any one of the criteria you set up, but not necessarily all of them. For instance, if you wanted to run a query for users who read email on either an iPhone or iPad, you can enter the first criteria for Reads Email Using iPhone. Then, click the green plus sign icon to add another Query Builder row and enter the second criteria for Reads Email Using iPad. Finally, make sure to select the Any option from the Match (All or Any) Of The Following dropdown list.
The second method for creating a query with multiple criteria involves using boolean expressions. Sailthru recognizes two horizontal bars (||) as an or expression. As an and expression, you can use two ampersands (&&). Using the same example of a query that finds users who read email on either an iPhone or an iPad, you can enter iPhone || iPad in the Value column, as shown in Figure D.

Figure D: Use boolean expressions to run a query for more than one value.
If you were to use the and boolean expression by separating the values with two ampersands, the query would include users who read email using both an iPhone and an iPad.
